Press Release: TeamApl and The Voice Philippines

Last August 18, 2013, Apl invited his mentees from The Voice of the Philippines to his home in Sapang Bato, Pampanga. They visited the students at the National High School where Apl donated classrooms, a computer laboratory, and a recording and music library.

“Involving the team in the foundation is part of mentoring,” explained Apl. “All of us came from nothing. Even though we don’t have much, we go out and help. That’s a good value to have as a musician.” I was further impressed when he admitted, “Medyo pilipit na ang Tagalog ko but I always make sure I have the values I learned growing up in the Philippines.”

(NOV 17TH) Apl.de.Ap made a stop of his “Going Out Tour”, to perform a benefit show in Phuket, Thailand at Xana Beach Club.  All money raised at the event went to the victims of the Typhoon Haiyan.

According to PhuketNews.com, the event raised B121,800 at the door. Matching funds were also donated by the group’s CSR division, Banyan Tree Global Foundation (BTGF,) to raise the overall contribution for victims of the Philippines disaster to B243,600.

The event was also supported by Inspired Events Phuket, who donated the sound equipment of the night. Phuket-based DJ Kensho warmed up for apl.de.ap, who performed a post-sunset set to an excited crowd on Bangtao Beach.

All funds raised for the event went to Give2Asia, a charity that joined to Apl.de.ap Foundation to raise money online for the victims.

“I like to go with organizations that I feel are hands-on. I feel like when I give, it’s not lost in the system, I’ve been working with Give2Asia for a while now with the Apl.de.Ap Foundation”, explained Apl to PhuketGazette website.

“I thought we [Filipinos] were tough, until this happened. Like I’ve never seen this magnitude of people really starving for days, waiting to get help, “So we are strong, but… we aren’t superhuman. People need food. In a matter of hours… not days.” – JUST GIVE BACK!
